Recently, I enjoyed meeting a group of energetic, enthusiastic and committed young people who were leaders of the National Catholic Student Coalition (NCSC). Some were also members of Pax Romana and International Movement of Catholic Students. Given our Vincentian option for youth and our interest in listening to youth, I want to share with you (1) how these individuals see themselves and (2) what the would like to see happen in their world. The National Catholic Student Coalition describes itself as follows: A VISION which strives to embody Catholic identity for college students by: • Participating actively in the Roman Catholic Church. • Representing U.S. Catholic students in national and international forums. • Encouraging formation and support of regional, territorial and state coalitions • Providing opportunities for spiritual growth. • Nurturing leadership. • Offering opportunities for community service. • Providing positive Catholic role models. • Supporting vocational discernment. • Facilitating career and faith integration. A VOICE for Catholic students on campuses across the U.S. with the U.S. Catholic Bishops and, as a member of Pax Romana, the International Movement of Catholic Students, with the United Nations and Vatican. A RESOURCE in the form of NCSC’s national leadership conference and other programs held at the local and regional levels. A PARTNER with national and international associations whose missions are aligned with our own. A NETWORK enabling campuses throughout the country to interact and share ideas. click to continue | Return Home | About Us | What's New | Urgent Action | Getting Involved | Great Links | Current Newsletter | Articles | Contact Us | |
